HOW DOES THIS ALL WORK?
Your Original Character
So here's the idea. Your character is a conduit to the canon driven stories of this world; a world that you are allowed to shape through the use of any canon you wish so long as your original character, or that of another member are a part of the story. Your original characters are NOT part of any known 'super-hero/super-villain' team at the start. Regardless of their age, they are at a point in their lives where they have either chosen, or been forced to step onto the playing field in whatever capacity you feel is appropriate. However, this does not mean they cannot have a crime-fighting history if they're older, meaning they could have stepped away from the life-style. We simply want your characters to have room to grow. As long as you accommodate the evolution of your character (which is NOT always reacting to relationships) you're in the clear with whatever you want.
You maintain the ability to modify your character profile so that you can continue to develop them, document their adventures with canons and other member characters. If you choose to consistently portray a specific canon in your stories along with your original character that's completely up to you. All stories on the site exist both independently and dependently of the main setting, meaning that the more in-depth your writing is, the more of an impact it will have on our canons.
THE 'SUPERHUMAN REGISTERY'
More than often our heroic characters are against the registry but the choice is entirely up to you. You can start off on the Registry if you wish, your character's identity, their finger prints, their DNA, on file and exposed or your character can maintain their anonymity.
Registry just doesn't mean that a superhuman can go about their life as normal. They are under constant surveillance and are basically at the beckon call of the government. Many are "urged" to join government controlled security forces if they wish to maintain the use of their abilities in public.
POWERS
Please read "POWERS EXPLAINED"
Keep your powers balanced, this definitely isn't a site that want's to take the 'super' out of our heroes and villains but you don't want things getting too over-powered and everyone getting into a pissing contest. Supers are SUPPOSED to be people that can take on your average 'armed' humans and usually come out on top. As a rule, MOST, metahumans and mutants have some form of physical enhancement, making them a little stronger, a little tougher than normal. It just goes without saying when you're emulating comic-book characters it's something that cinematic universe tends to fall short on as it 'humanizes' the characters.
As a rule, the CANONS are the experts and the most powerful at what they're known for. If your original character has 'Fire Powers', they're not going to be stronger than Johnny Storm, nor will their manipulation over the element surpass Pyro. If you make an 'insect-like' character be sure not to invade Spiderman's spotlight. Basically the more your character is similar to a canon, the more you have to make sure you're not just making a copy with a twist and stealing their thunder.
SUPER-SPEED, "THE SPEEDSTER"
This SITE limits the power of super-speed in that only two canons retain the power of temporal-warping and those are Superman and Flash. The theory of the 'Speed Force' has been attributed to a conduit of time-travel of which the FLASH is the one and only entity able to maintain the power. This is simply the way it's going to be here. All other canons and original characters will top out at 800 MPH which is just faster than the speed of sound. They cannot defy the laws of physics unless they possess some kind of power (like gravity control) that allows this. Naturally along with the power of 'speed' (outside of being the laws of physics) a speedster character is:
STRONG - They have to be. Speedster's need above average strength to deal with gravity forces and inertia beyond the physiology of a normal human. Whether this strength is physiological, magical or perhaps based on gravitational control is up to you. Their strength could be initiated by an increase of g-forces on their body, thus getting stronger as they compensate.
DURABLE - Speedster's possess highly durable bodies with some form of regeneration. Without this, one run would shred their body apart. The levels are up to you, but regardless of other abilities, the speedster will maintain these powers (These powers can also be initiated by the increase of speed). Often a heightened metabolism is associated with this, so your speedster could have some kind of adaptation or mutation to deal with this.
FRICTION RESISTANT - This can exist as a power (commonly some kind of kinetic field) or they can lack this adaptation and have to protect themselves through technological means (in the form of a special suit).
SUPERHUMANLY REACTIVE - A speedster simply reacts faster, literally thinking faster and like a cat they may see in more 'frames' than a 'human', basically seeing more detail, thus making things to appear to move slower.
CONNECTIONS
If you would like, please try and insert your ORIGINAL CHARACTER into the CANON world. Obviously we can't start making up blood relations or conjuring long lost siblings but there are several other choices. A teacher at Peter Parker's school, an employee at Wayne Enterprises, a journalist for the Gotham Gazette, etc. There is far more cohesiveness when our characters have connections.
NAMES
Use a SEARCH ENGINE to ensure that your chosen ALIAS is not already being used by an existing DC/MARVEL CANON. If your desired name just so happens to the same as some obscure character from the 1960's or something like that, then go ahead and use it. We just want to avoid duplicating more common names, and of course, there are NO NAME DUPLICATES allowed on the site. This includes REAL NAMES. This is only for ORIGINAL CHARACTERS, but we have made the FIRST NAMES of some of the most popular canons off limits. Names such as: LOGAN, ORORO, KITTY, THOR, LOKI, ODIN, NATASHA, CLINT, RAVEN, WANDA. Please do not use these as we prefer to leave them unique. Thank you.
FACE CLAIMS
You cannot reserve play-by's, it's first come, first serve. Just make sure you check the FACE CLAIMS listed and those being used by applications preceding yours. Thank you.
