Jessie likes being a detective and despite the morose attitude of the force still believes that she can make a difference. Her work is her life and she feels blessed that she ended up partnered with Detective Lane whose passion is inspiring.
She doesn't have much of a personal life. Catholic, she attends mass when she has the time, and tries to make time for prayer. Aside from that she isn't very social, keeping to herself. She's had a few failed relationships that ended badly, the last guy she put in the hospital after he tried to hit her. She swore, "never again" and figuring her taste in men absolutely sucks, she prefers to focus on her work.
A deeply emotional person, she's forced herself to callous over. She doesn't show much emotion, except when she's taking down bad guys. Most of the time she's deadly serious.

Jessica grew up in London, in a single parent family. It was just her and her Mom who worked two jobs to make ends meet. Gifted when it came to understanding programming languages she taught herself how to code and became exceptional at writing scripts and slipping into networks. She was also an exceptional gymnast. Her mother was unable to afford the training, but she was so gifted (for a full-blooded Human) that the organization paid her fees. It wasn't easy when your existence in the sport was completely performance based, but Jess seemed to thrive on it. She would go on to represent her country but when she was sixteen was caught breaking into a federal database. That was the end of her gymnastic career, but instead of being arrested was made to enrole into a program that would pave the way for her career in cyber-law enforcement.
After a failed relationship with a fellow police officer she left England and joined the NYPD. She had been brought in to lend her knowledge to their Cyber Crimes Unit and ended up applying for citizenship and staying. She met a man during this time in her life, one that seemed perfect, but he was anything but. She woke up one day and realized that she was in another abusive relationship and it ended badly... him ending up in the hospital.
Wanting to make more of a difference, Jessie transferred to homicide and was partnered with Detective Pricilla Lane, a fearless "super-cop" that inspired her. Through her, she met Plymouth Weir.
