ARKHETYPE is a comic-book genre, collaborative writing site, commonly referred to as an ‘RPG’, but there is nothing ‘common’ about it. First off, we stress story-telling as opposed to just ‘role-playing’ and secondly, you can write any CANON you wish.
ARKHETYPE is a comic-book genre, collaborative writing site. We stress story-telling as opposed to just ‘role-playing’. You can write any CANON you wish. There is no ownership of canon characters , they are all completely open to portray at your leisure.
Here time is static. It occurs during Lex Luthor's reign over America, and the subsequent rise of fascism and nationalism across the globe. You are free to set your stories in any time frame you wish. You may choose to maintain a chronological order, or be sporadic, it's entirely up to you.
ARKHETYPE removes the oppressive restriction of CANON OWNERSHIP and disallows the exclusivity of typical rpg writing. How can you accurately portray a scene at the ‘X-Mansion’ without interacting with the X-Men? It’s ludicrous. Canon characters are ALREADY written so what's the point of putting a new spin on them? Their creators have invested years into their development.
Member characters are ORIGINAL and the CANON world of Marvel and DC combined is the back-drop, but this is not to say that your character has to have the spotlight all the time. If you just want to exclusively write a particular canon, no one's stopping you. Just remember that no one here has ownership over any canon characters and are not ever meant to.
LET’S GET STARTED
1. Please read the PLOT & HISTORY. Before you make a character it’s important you understand the setting.
2. Pease read the RULES. Here’s where you’ll find the answers to questions concerning the concept of this place and guidelines to help keep you on track.
3. You need to develop an original character. Now, is it really possible to come up with anything original anymore? It’s damn difficult. What we’re looking for is character that IS NOT a carbon copy of any existing CANONS. Remember, these are original characters existing within a merged Marvel/DC universe (catering more to the Cinematic Universe because they’ve already, filtered all the comic-bookiness into the ‘real world’), you just have to come up with something a little different. Stereo-types are pretty difficult to avoid.
4. CREATING YOUR ACCOUNT: Please use the actual name of your character, not their alias. ‘First name’ ‘Last name’. Your account can be whatever you want, just change the name in the PERSONAL settings.
5. GRAPHICS — Your SIGNATURE must be no larger than 300 x 600 px AVATAR MUST measure 125 x 200 px. You’ll find the field for the HOVER IMAGE in the PERSONAL tab of your profile. The size is 200 x 300 px. This is actually your true avatar pic, the one that is seen most of the time. NO ANIME. NO ‘Play-bys’ that are cinematic versions of canon characters. Robert Downey Jr. is ‘Iron Man’, Chris Evans is ‘Captain America’, etc. You will find a list of CANON FACE CLAIMS here. We ONLY accept photo-realistic graphics to depict your character(s). If there’s one rule that we ask to be followed it’s maintaining CONSISTENT GRAPHIC SIZE. Site uniformity is very important to us. If your graphic is NOT COMPLIANT it will be REMOVED. PLEASE ensure that your graphics are TASTEFUL. NO NUDITY. Thank you. If you need help with a graphic please PM Nite Owl.
6. One character to start and after you’re settled in, you are welcome to make more. If you’re curious ‘how many?’ we believe the number of characters you write should be directly proportional to the depth of your stories. You’ll find the APPLICATION code in the DEVELOPMENT area.
