PRESIDENT LUTHOR!
It's been one year, three months, and seventeen days since Lex Luthor was elected President of the United States, but who's counting? When Mr. Luthor first stepped up to the podium on that faithless election day the applause of his adoring fans was sorely drowned by the sighs of a nation.
Since Luthor has taken office, crime rates expectedly increased, contrary to the data that his government is pushing. While the Luthor administration insists that the nation's crime-rate is at an all time low those of us still possessing spines and consciousness, alone know the truth. The nation's crime-rate is up 12% and steadily increasing. Thankfully Tony Stark's Federal Regulation Bureau is working hard to prevent the reign of terror inflicted on us by the very costumed criminals that kept our streets safe from the rampages of super-powered villains. The F.R.B. has been insisting that the nation will see a decline in crime since November but we have yet too see the results promised. So far, all the Luthor government has accomplished is to fulfil a few infrastructure promises, specifically benefitting the top 1% of the country, not to mention lining Luthor's pockets, but his party insists that they've been working tirelessly behind closed doors. Closed doors? Why the secrecy? As the majority of the nation grows wearisome, worrisome and wary of President's Luthor's unorthodox style of government his unwavering base continues praise the former crime-lord as if he can do no wrong. All our efforts to contact Superman for a statement on the Luthor presidency this past year have been dodged by the Man of Steel. His familiar colours have been replaced by the patriotic scheme of Captain America who actively speaks out against the pretender president and his band of cutthroat pirates. Today, Captain Rogers spoke out in Metropolis, in which he condemned the President's ill-gotten position and reaffirmed the assistance of the rogue nation Latveria in rigging the election. Luthor, of course, decried the accusations, dismissively waving off the words of the 'unregistered vigilante' while demanding the proof. He then went on to praise himself and the efforts of his "glorious administration" and to further reinforce the importance of registering all Metahumans and Mutants "for the good of American society and the good of the world."
